Adding a Security Key for MFA

This Yubico USB-A Security Key has been tested by IT.

  1. Browse to https://account.microsoft.com and choose Sign In

  2. Enter your username and click Next

  3. Enter your password and click Next

  4. If prompted, satisfy the Multifactor challenge

  5. Close the feedback window using the X or Cancel if promptedUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
     
  6. Under Security Info, choose Update InfoUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
     
  7. Choose "Add sign-in method"

  8. Under the Choose a method selector, choose "Security Key"

  9. Click AddUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
     
  10. Choose "USB Device"

  11. Have your key ready and choose Next

  12. Plug in your security key, a Security key setup window will pop up, choose OK

  13. A Continue setup window will pop up, this notifies you your credentials will be stored on your key, choose OK

  14. You will be prompted to create a security PIN, enter a memorable PIN and click OK

  15. Touch your key when prompted

  16. Enter a unique name for your security key and click Next

  17. Finish setup by clicking Done

To test, open an incognito browser and navigate to https://outlook.office.com. 

Enter your username and click next

Enter your password and click next

You will be prompted to plug in your security key, do so now

You will be prompted for your pin code, enter it now

Touch the key when prompted

You will now be asked if you'd like to stay signed in. Only choose yes if this is a secure machine that only you have access to (such as your office computer). Most applications won't require Multi Factor again for 30 days, Colleague will require Mutli Factor every 24 hours.
