Student Assessment Software, Proctoring, and Tutoring

What is it?

ExamSoft and Examplify

Nursing and Allied Health programs use ExamSoft and Examplify for student assessment. For assistance with this software, please contact servicedesk@stchas.edu or 636-922-8555. This software is available on the computers in the assessment lab at the Center for Healthy Living campus in Dardenne Creek.

Examity

SCC also offers online proctoring for online courses through Examity. There are requirements for students about hardware and the type of device they can use. All of this information is available on the OEL portal page under Documents along with information for faculty as well. To use Examity for your online course, please send an email to servicedesk@stchas.edu with your name, the course name, course number, and section number. Courses are not automatically connected to Examity. This must be done before the second week of each semester to allow students time to complete Examity training, make sure they have compatible equipment and space, and to schedule exams far enough in advance to avoid fees. Faculty will be required to speak to Dave Willmore or Monica Swindle about how to set up exams before connecting the course(s).

SCC pays for the first attempt at each exam for online students. If students miss an exam appointment, the college must still pay for that appointment and the student will then be financially responsible for the cost of the makeup appointment. If a student schedules, cancels or changes an appointment within 24-hours of when they would like to take their exam, Examity will charge them a $5.00 on-demand fee.

NetTutor

All students have access to online tutoring 24/7 with NetTutor at no cost to them. This is available to them in every Canvas course unless a faculty member has inadvertently disabled it. If this has happened, please email servicedesk@stchas.edu or call anyone in Online and E-Learning for assistance to get it enabled. NetTutor covers most of the subjects offered at SCC including Sociology, Psychology, Economics, History, English, Math, First-Year Experience (COL 101), Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Business, Business Ethics, Marketing, and several others.

There is a helpful sheet of tips that can be provided to students to help them prepare for an online tutoring session through NetTutor on the OEL portal page. The only time a student will incur a charge for using NetTutor is if they schedule an appointment and do not log in and meet their tutor for that appointment. In this case, they will receive a charge on their SCC account from the business office.
