Requesting checkout


To request a checkout the student will need to first contact their instructor to put in the request on your behalf, have them send your information to servicedesk@stchas.edu (ID Number, e-mail, phone number and what IT equipment needs you have) and we will send information to their college e-mail to check out this after we have received the request. The laptops will need to be returned at the end of the semester, you may extend your checkout if you are taking classes in the next semester after we have verified your enrollment.

 

Rental procedure

Once we have received the request from the instructor. the student will be e-mailed two forms to fill out with information on the checkout. First they will need to put in the order through the Campus Store either online or in person. If a student has never created an account for the Campus Stores website they must do so. They cannot just use their student email and password to proceed unless they registered it on the store’s website.

Once logged in, the order should be picked up not shipped, we do not ship out any IT equipment. Continue until payment information must be entered.

Student must enter in a valid credit card and only $1.08 will be charged.
$1.00 plus tax which will be refunded when laptop is returned. (No way to turn off Tax)
If a laptop is not returned or damaged the student will get charged $1,200.00 or the repair cost

 

Acceptable usage

Acceptable Use Rules

1. The laptop is an educational tool and should be used in that capacity only.
2.  The student is responsible for the laptop at all times.
3. The laptop should not be used to – COPY, DOWNLOAD, UPLOAD, or SHARE COPYRIGHTED MATERIALS without legal permission.
4. The student is the only authorized user of your assigned laptop. Never share or swap laptops with another student. Keep your password CONFIDENTIAL.
5. Do not EAT or DRINK near your laptop.
6. Avoid touching the screen. When cleaning is necessary, use a soft cloth.
7. Do not remove college labels or asset tags.
8. Do not take the laptop out of state.

Internet Use Rules

1.  Students agree to adhere to the St. Charles Community College Internet use policy signed by each student at the beginning of the school year.  
2. Content found that is related to illegal or unethical activities will be reported to the authorities.
3.  School staff has the right at any time to spot check student laptops.

Home Use Rules

1. Students are responsible for the care of their laptops.
2. Do not leave laptops in vehicles.
3. If a laptop is stolen, the college police and the Service Desk (636.922.8555) must be notified immediately. 
4. Students are responsible for the replacement cost of lost laptops, or power cords.

If a laptop is not returned or damaged the student will get charged $1,200.00 or the repair cost.
